How to Pray for Skye

God is good, the devil is a liar, and prayer still changes things! ~ Ralph LaBarr

12-3-17 December’s Prayer Requests:

  1. Please pray for my trip home for the holidays! I am returning to MN for two weeks in the end of December. Please pray for good flights, good fellowship, and good snow. πŸ˜‰ I’m not planning this trip as a “resting” time or a break, so pray for me as I use the energy I have with wisdom and foresight, because I want to “live it to the fullest” those two weeks.
  2. Please pray for my friend “L” who is battling a huge amount of confusion about his identity and his place in God’s family, and please pray for his girlfriend. L is struggling with homosexual thoughts and he needs our prayers. He has been with his girlfriend for over 8 years.Pray that he sees his need for God’s love and power to make him whole and help him live his life the way it was meant to be lived.Β Please stop to pray for all countries who have legalized same-sex marriage, for the media, and for those you know who think that their feelings and what they see as their identity is their God. Thank you~
  3. Please pray for Miki and CalebΒ (the couple I live with) as they raise their two boys. Please pray for wisdom and joy! πŸ™‚
  4. Please pray for my family to know the Lord like I do or better! Please pray for your family too!
  5. Please pray for the new business hours for Aroma as they add breakfast menu items and shorten their evening hours during the week. Please pray for many people to come in and be able to “smell” the aroma of Christ in the workers and those of us who frequent the shop and the office all week. Pray for customers to join our community!
  6. Please pray for Aroma #2 that is opening in southern Wanhua, the district of Taiwan’s Capitol City of Taipei, which just happens to be about 5 minutes from Miki and Caleb’s house. Please pray for the ongoing renovations and for just the right people to be put in leadership and given positions in the new location. Pray for the people of southern Wanhua to also smell the aroma of Christ!
  7. Please pray for the spiritual atmosphere of Taiwan. Wanhua is traditionally the darkest area of Taiwan (Dr. McKay, a famous missionary doctor who traveled Taiwan was forced out of only one place in Taiwan–Wanhua). Pray for the strongholds of demons (idols) and spirits (“ghosts”) to fall in the Name of Jesus so that the Gospel can take root and flourish in this area and this country. Thank you for praying!!!

9-10-17 September’s Prayer Requests:

You can see from the lack of prayer requests posted for July and August that this summer was pretty full! After 6 short term missions teams that each spent 10 days with us, 8 or 9 summer interns, and continuing school, fall time is a welcomed season of rest. Thank you for praying for me this summer, and here is what you can intercede for this month:

  1. Sleep. Please pray for me for sleep better this month and set a good schedule for getting to bed earlier. I have discovered that many days when I feel sick, it is linked to how much I have slept. I usually get 6 to 7 hours, but it appears that is not enough, for I often feel nauseous or get a headache. Thanks!
  2. Please pray for a lot of time for me to practice. I have a new Music Video coming soon– MoMo and I are recording a new music video on September 20th. Stay tuned for it on facebook and YouTube! (I will post about it in my blog as well.)

  3. Please pray for the southern United States, for those who have lost their homes and their hopes! Consider helping out with Samaritan’s Purse or the Red Cross, or see if your church can send a team for relief efforts.Β
  4. Please pray for my friend Apple as she prepares to move to Australia for a working holiday. Pray for God to provide much more than she ever imagined!

    1503889252608
Apple and I on a trip south this August
  5. Please pray. For Eva, as she has been working very hard and hasn’t been able to come around the Aroma for many months. Pray for God to sustain her and to remind her of his power and strength to face the difficulties in her life.
  6. Please pray for a friend, L, and his girlfriend. L is struggling with homosexual thoughts and he needs our prayers. He has been with his girlfriend for over 8 years. Please stop to pray for all countries who have legalized same-sex marriage, for the media, and for those you know who think that their feelings and what they see as their identity is their God. Thank you~
  7. Please pray for the costs of my plane trip home and the upcoming semesters at school will be completely paid for!~ Thank God from whom all blessings flow!

6-19-17 June’s Prayer Requests:

  1. Please pray for good connections for me. I am raising more support and I need about $450/month to be able to continue my schooling at the Mandarin Training Center at ShiDa University, purchase plane tickets for visiting at Christmas and coming home in 2019, and also for a few much-needed items around the house and home. Thank you for your prayers! Two people have already signed up to help me meet my budget! If you can give or know someone, point them to the page at the top called “How To Support Skye.”

R>L: Apple, a growing Christian friend, me, and Apple’s brother Tim. Please pray for Tim to come back to Christ! He used to be a leader in his youth group but has now fallen away from the Lord, and there doesn’t seem to be a clear cause. Pray for Apple too! πŸ™‚
  2. Please pray for my classmates at ShiDa, Pin Pin and Xiao3 Feng4, who have been trying to go to church on Sundays with me, but it seems that something always comes up. I know the devil is doing his best to keep them away from a relationship with Christ.
  3. Please pray for patience with my new teacher this quarter– he has a very different way of teaching and many of the students are frustrated with his methods.
  4. Please pray for the short term team of 10 that is here June 24th through the third of July. They are from Queens Herald Church, and will be helping out Aroma and doing a VBS for another church in the central part of Taiwan.Β
  5. Please pray for our new summer interns who have just arrived!– Alexis, Petra, and Anna will all be helping out Aroma, respectively focusing on Envision matters (admin, etc.), Coffee as Missions, and the Aroma Church (women’s ministry, discipleship, etc.). One for each area of our ministry!
  6. Please pray for Aroma– we are in the process of launching a second location!! It will be close to where I live in Wanhua, (a district of Taipei City), and it will be led by a husband and wife team named Erich and Kelly. Please pray for them and the many people whom they will need to be involved with the new location.

L>R: Xiao Feng, Me, Vina, and Pin Pin as we celebrated Xiao Feng’s birthday on June 3rd.
  7. Please pray for your leaders, your country and your family. God is Good, the devil is a liar, and prayer still changes things. Also, you do big things when you pray. God honors the prayers of his people when they are offered in humility and thanksgiving. (See Luke 18:1)

5-2-17 May’s Prayer Requests:

  1. Please pray for wisdom in raising some more funds this month! πŸ™‚ I have decided to continue Chinese at ShiDa (my college) for the full two years that I am here so that I can better be prepared to use Chinese for ministry. I also would be getting a student ARC and insurance with that, so there are some costs coming up that weren’t in the picture before. Thanks for praying!
  2. Please pray for my Chinese teacher, Ms Hsu and my 9 classmates to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior! Pray that I am diligent to share the gospel as I should, and that I am aware of opportunities.
  3. Please pray that I refuse the Holy Spirit nothing. Thank you for praying!
  4. Please pray that my friend MoMo would be able to win the script competition that she has entered and that she could share God’s glory with all of Taiwan through her movies.
  5. Praise God for a great time of rest and encouraging time in Hualien (a city in the foothills on the eastern side of Taiwan), where the whole Envision:Taipei team spent a weekend of retreating together. Praise God for strengthened relationships, prayer, and fun!18236070_10155315976155452_1520476961_o
  6. Please pray for me to put away fear and just move ahead on my dreams of making music!
  7. Please pray for your children and your parents. PLEASE READ THE BOOK FROM SPIRITUAL SLAVERY TO SONSHIP BY JACK FROST, AND SOUL CARE BY ROB REIMER!!! Haha. This is just a suggestion, but it’s a strong suggestion. πŸ˜‰

3-18-17 March’s Prayer Requests:

  1. I just started studying Chinese at a school called National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU)! Please pray for me to be able to get my required hours of study and deal well with the homework load. Being a student is harder when you’re also working!
  2. Please pray for the Aroma Cafe to have more and more customers. We remodeled at the beginning of February and business has been going well. Pray for the new, more open, storefront will get that Aroma of Christ out into the streets! πŸ™‚
  3. Please pray as I begin looking for a place to record music here. I have a lead with a friend’s guitar teacher who would only charge me a small amount to record at his school. MoMo has also offered to do a new music video around Easter time, so pray for me to have good times to practice and become completely familiar with the music I choose to record.
  4. Please pray for me to have wisdom with my time– school and travel is a little wearisome, and I don’t want that to affect my ministry or distract me from my Lord.
  5. Please pray for Emily, Alexa, Sandra, Apple, Hannah, and Pei Lin as I study the Bible with them or tutor them.
  6. Please pray for my teacher at NTNU, Ms Hsu, and my 8 classmates. Pray that I would get the chance to share the full Gospel with them, individually or as a group. Pray for boldness and that I would declare everything as I should.
  7. Please pray for me to be able to finish a drawing I was commissioned for in the states. My goal is to finish it before the end of this month (March).

1-28-17 Jan-February’s Prayer Requests:

  1. I just arrived in Taiwan! Please pray for a good, healthy transition.
  2. Please pray for my host parents, Miki and Caleb, and their two boys Zephaniah (3) and Elijah (1). Pray for joy and rest for their hearts.
  3. The team of new interns(1 year or less)/residents(2 years) includes three from Minnesota: me, Jay W., and Michael G.; and one from Northern Ireland: AimΓ©e M. Please pray for us to serve God with our whole hearts, with purity and integrity and joy!
  4. As a team we are reading a book called Soul Care by Dr. Rob Reimer, and if a single book could be God’s pruning tool, that would be it. Please pray that we all lay down our sin and shame, past and worries of the future and come into the freedom of Christ.
  5. Please pray for a Taiwanese lady named Jaime who has been somewhat of a shut-in since a bad auto accident she was in last year. She has been unable to work at the Aroma (she used to be on staff), and unable to attend church. Pray that God lifts her up and gives her faith, hope, and love again.
  6. Please pray for a roommate who will rent a house with me. I am looking for a cheap place for two or a cheaper place for one haha.
  7. Please pray for the millions of souls that have no knowledge of Christ! Pray for workers for the fields, because the fields are full and they are acres and acres long… Only God knows how. Hope in Christ, who paid our debt! Once for all!

11-5-16 November’s Prayer Requests:

  1. I am very close to getting my financial goal met for the full two years of service in Taiwan! I will be going to Taiwan in January of 2017, so please pray for me to be fully funded. I just need 100/month in pledges now! (I have about $900 as of now, and need a little less than $1,000.)
  2. PLEASE PRAY THAT I CAN GET A SONG RECORDED!!! I was commissioned by a friend to write a song for his new album and he is recording at the end of November. I have been looking for someone or some way to record my song, but have not been able to yet. Feeling the time crunch! Please pray for perfect timing and good quality recording.
  3. Please pray for my Taiwanese friend Alexa’s small group to continue to be a blessing to the Aroma Church. Pray for the other small group too, led by Pastor Chris O’Dell.
  4. Please pray for my visa application process to go quickly and smoothly.
  5. Please pray for me to find a good apartment to live in. Alexa has volunteered to look for a good place for me near where she lives, so if I am to live there pray God opens her eyes to good deals.
  6. Please pray for the leadership of the Aroma Church and Coffee Shop. They are undergoing a lot of changes right now in the way they do things procedurally, and at the same time the associate pastor just got married and will be gone for three months for a much-needed vacation. Please pray for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control.
  7. Please pray for my friend Jazi (name changed to keep anonymity)– she has been having a really hard time after losing a job and has had depression and anxiety because of it. Pray that she lifts her eyes up out of the situation and onto the God who makes everything come out for the good of those who trust in Him (Rom. 8:28).

9-20-16 September’s Prayer Requests:

  1. Please praise God for the amazingly close job he gave me at Head Start Preschool–just one minute’s walk from my back door! Praise him for providing for me since I don’t have a car.
  2. Please pray for a new job for my mom and praise God for his faithfulness during 15 years at Coborn’s– Done!
  3. Please pray for the children who go to the preschool that God gave me a job at. I am an assistant teacher there until January. Please pray for J, M, J, Z, and H: These are children with a lot of energy and who get into trouble very often. Pray that God helps them get the help they need and the firm and patient guidance necessary to nurture a teachable spirit. (All the kids are 3-4 years old.) Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s work in the children and teachers and that I reflect God’s brilliance to them.
  4. Please pray for my siblings to know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as he is. My dream is that someday they would all worship God with me in freedom and joy! πŸ™‚
  5. Please pray for me as I seek out help to get music published and more recordings done. Pray for MoMo, Rafaela, and others that I will partner with–pray that they would know that God provides everything they need.
  6. Please pray for God to continue his work in my heart–he is showing me a lot of areas that do not reflect him. Pray that I can communicate my emotions better with people who are close to me, that I can respond in love when I am irritated, and that I see others’ needs above my own.
  7. Please continue to pray for the Aroma Church– they are not looking for a new building anymore at this time and so need creative ways to use their space. Please pray for wisdom and creativity. Please pray for the English programs and any events the Aroma Cafe/Church holds, that they would be fruitful and that they would continue in integrity and uprightness to share the good news that Jesus came to give eternal life freely!

7-19-16 July’s Prayer Requests:

Chen Jie and Me before I left Taiwan-- she's the lady who fixes shoes on my street. I tutor her son Saturday nights and often stop in and visit with her in her shop with my limited Chinese. Pray for her family's salvation!
Chen Jie and Me before I left Taiwan– she’s the lady who fixes shoes on my street. I tutor her son Saturday nights and often stop in and visit with her in her shop with my limited Chinese. Pray for her family’s salvation!
  1. Please praise God for my sister Corry’s good news– she got some testing done and the tumor is so minuscule that it isn’t a worry at all. The doctor said come back in 5 years for a scan but it’s ok. Please pray for her to continue to push to find out the cause of her stroke-like symptoms.
  2. Please pray for me as I visit my family this month in the States. Pray for good memory-building times and that the people I need to see would be who I see.
  3. Please pray that God would provide all the funds that I need for the upcoming 2-year commitment with Envision in Taiwan,Β which starts when I have the funds raised. (I need about $31,200– 30% of which [$9,360] I need in my account, and 100% pledged before I begin the 2-year mark.) If you would like to be a part of supporting me as I disciple new believers and serve in Taiwan from Aug. 2016-2018, go to How to Support Skye.
  4. Please pray for scholarships for learning Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan at ShiDa (National Taiwan Normal University).
  5. Pray for Craig, who I met on a plane going from Dallas to Colorado and who wants to give his life to Jesus Christ.
  6. Pray for people as they are considering giving their whole hearts and devotion to Jesus before the baptism at Aroma Church on August 14th.
  7. Please pray for a safe return flight when I travel back to Taiwan on August 4th, 2016.
  8. Please pray for unity throughout all Christians!!

Thank you so much!

Father, I want to ask you to bless those who are praying for me. Please give them the boldness to step out in faith and trust you to lead them on a good journey to honor you and give them a life of fulfillment in Christ. Lord, please protect them and give them wisdom when making decisions and light the fire in their hearts again. Let them proclaim the good news to this broken world who desperately need you. Amen

Skye

5-7-16 May’s Prayer Requests:

Here are the most needed areas of prayer this month:

  1. Please pray for my sister Corry! She has a tumor (benign, but still harmful) at the base of her spinal cord, and she needs to see a specialist! But the earliest she can see a specialist is apparently 3 months from now, if no one cancels. Pray for a miracle!
  2. Please pray for my boss. She had a baby on Christmas day (and thus dubbed him “Chris”), but she doesn’t get to spend much time with him. In fact, she only sees him on the weekends because she works during the week. This may seem shocking to those in the States, but it is actually quite common here. Please pray for God to change the culture–there is so often a gap in relationships because of this. Grandparents often raise the kids while the parents work.
  3. Please pray for a friend (don’t want to say their name). They are having a really hard time at their job, making a lot of honest mistakes, and they are getting nervous and frustrated with themselves. Please pray for grace and foresight for future would-be problems.
  4. Please continue to pray for the Aroma Coffee Shop–we are still in the process of getting a new building and this summer will be a challenge to everyone involved. Think of it– we have a church, a cafe, and a missions organization all moving to a new location. That’s a lot of people and a lot of planning.
  5. I’m going to copy and paste here what I wrote last time: Pray for the Aroma Cafe. RIGHT NOW! Haha. We are looking for a new building. Our lease is up in August, so please pray for God to show us where to go, in his timing. For those of you who are shop owners or who have ever tried to buy a new building, you know it can be tricky finding just what you need. Pray for big dreams and big expectations for God’s provision! Here’s some of what we need:
    1. A window area on a main street.
    2. Good space for a kitchen.
    3. Room for seating around 60-70 or more! πŸ™‚
    4. A good set-up for a stage/platform, a sound room, and easy access to wherever we keep the instruments for worship during the week.
    5. At least one room that can be devoted to prayer and meetings.
    6. An office space.
  6. Please pray for me to be able to stay this summer. I will need to go somewhere for a visa run since I will not be working in July and August. Please pray that I get the money for a flight.
  7. Please also pray for me as I make decisions on Chinese learning. I want to continue my studies in Chinese, so I am looking into colleges to see where I can take some classes. Enrollment in many colleges ends soon, so pray for good decision making and wisdom.
  8. Thank you!
  9. Pray for your church and your family. Pray for Christians to step out and do what their faith is all about.

3-15-16 March Madness is Already Half Done! Pray for my Bible Reading!

Here are the most needed areas of prayer this month:

  1. Pray for my students. It is almost Easter! Soon I will begin teaching a little about Easter in my classes. Pray for open hearts and open doors…. and also closed doors! Pray that when I talk about Jesus, the door to my room would be shut and protected from those in my school who would not approve of me teaching about Jesus. Pray for Jesus’ Spirit to bring them understanding.
  2. Pray for the Aroma Cafe. RIGHT NOW!
  3. Pray for Aroma Church. We have just begun a series on spiritual warfare, and we can already feel some things shifting and changing. People are desiring God more in the church, and I can feel that we are maybe “going into another glory.” Pray for the people of Aroma to be unified and to be strong in the Lord. Pray for humility and dedication to prayer, fasting, and telling people about Jesus!
  4. Pray for believers to be descipled! Please pray that each new believer would be able to come under someone more experienced and hungry for God. Pray for a heightened awareness of the need for showing new believers how to grow, get to know God more, and become a leader themselves.
  5. Praise God!!! My friend MoMo has recorded a song for me and she is helping me fulfill one of my dreams (to record my own songs … and also be in a video haha). Please pray for her to get more publicity–she’s almost too modest, and the world needs to know what she can do. She took my small abilities and made them look like magic in the video, and she is a director of her own movies. Please pray for more cases for her, and for me to have more money to pay for another recording session!!!

1-9-16 Bring in the New Year with Prayer

To all who visit this blog of Skye’s and are praying for her~ Let’s not be weary in well doing in our prayers for her please. Skye is in a very dark place spiritually, and unreached area of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and her spiritual warfare has been unbearable much of the time. Her heart longs for peace and joy. We must hold her up as the Body of Christ!! I have sensed today that there is much need to combat these forces and watch Jesus put the devil under her feet in Taipei Taiwan all for His Glory!! As we call out to the Lord, He is Faithful and will answer because it’s according to His will (1 John)
Thanks to all who intercede for this lovely and beautiful child of God!!
-her mother

My mom, Becky, wrote this a few days ago, and it is a good reminder. If you know any other missionaries, pray for them with the seriousness of a climber holding out the rope to the climber behind him– a lifeline and a help that is not unneeded! Your prayers are like the helping hand to make an ascent possible. Our prayers move things and make things happen, so don’t give up praying for God’s people everywhere! Here are the things I need prayer for on a daily basis:

  1. A constant reminder of God’s presence with me when I feel lonely.
  2. More encounters with people and that I would speak listening to the Holy Spirit and his direction.
  3. For my student that I tutor on Saturday nights and his family and friend to feel the pull of the Cross and ask questions. Pray for salvation for them and for them to put their faith in God and push aside the lies they’ve been told about Christianity. My student’s name is Eddie, and his mom is Chen Jie (pronounced Chun Gee-ay), and his friend’s name is Kevin. Kevin and Eddie are in junior high and Eddie’s parents fix shoes and bags on my street.
  4. Pray for my co-teacher, Jennifer to come to Jesus and to have self-control, especially with anger. She has said several times that she doesn’t think she is a nice person because she is always angry and yells at the kids (true on both accounts, unfortunately). I think she does want to change though. Pray for a spiritual hunger for living a loving life and for the means (Jesus Christ) to do this.
  5. Pray for my classroom management in 6th grade. I need to change the way I do things but I am unsure how. Pray that God leads me to the right resources over my break. I don’t have to work from 1-15-16 through 2-15-16, so I will have some time to think about this, praise God.
  6. Pray for the Aroma Church because we are starting some new things this year– Pastor Chris wants to have more prayer in the fabric of the Church (Sunday and during the week-day things), new leadership is being implemented, and there are lots of meetings going on about looking for a new place to hold Aroma’s growing needs and congregation.
  7. Pray that I would keep my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. Pray that I would keep my eyes on him here and now, not on future. Pray for a way to be content. Thank you!

11-29-15 An Important Month To Pray

I am experiencing an extreme amount of spiritual warfare right now, and I need your help. I’ve been very homesick. Each week it just seems to get worse, and I am not able to find joy. As hard as I try, I cannot make this on my own. Please pray diligently these things over me:

  1. That God would send me many angels to guard me and those who work here as God’s ambassadors. It is very dark here, and the whole church is really going though a hard time. I can feel the spiritual oppression.
  2. Pray against the spirits of rejection and depression. Pray for my homesickness, which is overwhelming me weekly if not daily.
  3. Pray for hope from the Lord Jesus Christ to guard me.
  4. Pray for something that makes it okay for me to be here. Really. This week I actually prayed that God would just let me go home.
  5. Pray for a heart for the people here. Where do I start?
  6. Pray for God to reveal his purpose in me coming here. I do not need to know everything, but I have to know something.
  7. Pray for my students to ask lots of questions about eternity. I think that may be my purpose. Pray that I’d be okay with that. Right now, I am selfishly just wanting to go home and do what I’ve always done.

10-29-15

  1. Please pray for my co-teacher Kaiti. She is my 6th grade co-teacher, but her last day is tomorrow, the 3oth of Oct, and she is leaving to “think about what life will be like in the future for her”– I do not know for sure, but it sounds like she may be sick… like really sick. Please pray for God’s healing and salvation to come to her, and that we’d be able to stay in contact.
  2. Please pray for grace and help from my supervisors, co-teachers, and friends. I am not trained or equipped to teach English. Please pray that I would be like David: Able to fight the giant without a sword in my hand or a spear to throw.
  3. Please pray for Andrea to be able to learn what her school is looking for in her classes. Pray that she can see how to provide structure for the classes she teaches.
  4. Praise God with me! Lesson planning is becoming much easier, and I am beginning to understand more how to get students to learn vocab. Please pray for me to understand how to make practicing grammar fun.
  5. Please pray for a time of rest for me to be able to get out of the city… I’m getting claustrophobic here a little. It’s hard when all you can see around you is buildings. Everywhere. Give me mountains, Gandalf! Mountains! Oh wait. That’s what I have. Pray that I can ‘get away’ for a bit soon.
  6. Please pray for The Aroma Cafe: they are beginning the process of becoming a franchise. Pray that the business never becomes the most important thing to the owners–we want the gospel spread, not just good business.
  7. Please pray for The Aroma Church (meets in the same building that is The Aroma Cafe): They are going to two services on November 8th, and that means they need twice the man power for things… pray for strength, peace, grace, and endurance for those who help with the services. Also pray for more people to flood into The Aroma for Jesus’ presence!

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

Psalm 61:2

9-17-15

  1. Please pray for good health. I am getting over a cold, but I am stressed a lot, which is not healthy long-term.
  2. Please pray for grace and help from my supervisors, co-teachers, and friends. I am not trained or equipped to teach English. Please pray that I would be like David: Able to fight the giant without a sword in my hand or a spear to throw.
  3. Please pray for time to practice piano. It is really hard not to be able to play piano right now. It is my gift that Jesus gave me, and right now it seems like it is lost. I feel like I am lost without being able to play. Please pray for time to play.
  4. Please pray for Andrea, my roommate. She also is teaching, and needs health, inspiration, and support emotionally. πŸ™‚
  5. Please pray for my lesson plans– I desperately need to get ahead in my planning. Right now I am going day by day, and it is very hard.
  6. Please pray for angels to go with me, for presence of mind, and for comfort from God. Right now I feel so needy, and I do not like it. But God is teaching me to rely fully on him, and, yeah, I have to to be able to get through each day.
  7. Praise God for my new house! For provision! For Skype calls with my mom and friends! For people who love me and pray for me (including you πŸ™‚ )! For God’s unfailing help.

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

Psalm 61:2

8-12-15

  1. Please review my needs from 8-9-15
  2. Please pray for my left shoulder and arm, down to my wrist and thumb. Something is just not right with it, and I do not know why.
  3. Please pray for a new phone for me. My phone keeps shutting off all day, without any pattern or reason. Pray that someone would have one I can buy cheaper.
  4. Please pray for a guy named Calvin, who told me today that he is losing his faith in God. He does not work, and feels purposeless right now. He is chasing a dream that may not even be within his grasp, and in the mean time losing precious years of his life.
  5. Please pray for my roommate Irene and friend Jae to find their identities in Christ, not in any state of being or pattern of this world.

8-9-15

1. Please pray for wisdom and discernment in relationships. Sorry, can’t give details.

2. Please pray for my interview tomorrow (8-10-15). Even if you do not see this til much later, you can be praying for God to set up the right job for me. Pray that it would be at a school where I can share the gospel and grow as a teacher and a mentor. Tomorrow’s school is called Sunshine American School, and it is about a 45 minute journey from the Aroma, so pray that travel goes smoothly and I can be on time!!

3. Please pray for my family to see the life in Jesus Christ and be honest with themselves. Please pray that they would find fulfillment and joy.

4. Please pray that I would be a blessing to The Aroma church, and find the best fit for my skills.

5. Keep praying for that Steinway πŸ˜‰

7-27-15

1. Just had my first teaching interview/demo today. I did not get the job, but I left on very good terms with the interviewer, and she said she’d keep my resume on file. If I feel that I have a better idea of how to get the kids involved in the lesson within a couple of weeks that I can do another demo. Please pray for Elise and the Columbia English Language Program to find a good teacher or keep a spot open for me if God so wills.

2. Please pray for me to learn how to think like a teacher. That God would remind me of all the things my favorite teachers have done and to learn from those around me. Pray for someone I can shadow. Keep praying!

3. Pray for me to have wisdom, discernment, compassion, and genuine love for the LGBT community. Many people I have gotten to know either are gay/lesbian or have friends that are, and I want to represent Christ in a way that would honor him in everything I do, say, and think. Pray that God would help me to be sensitive and firm in the Truth and nothing else. Keep praying!

4. Pray that I can get my phone set up with 3G. I am really missing talking with my sister and I cannot right now without WiFi. My phone is now set up! Thank you!

7-3-15

1. I have no word from any potential employers yet. Please pray that Crown College will send my diploma to me before my departure date of the 17th!! I will need that for any job. Got it!

2. I asked for prayer for my family before. Now things are even more complicated. Please pray for my Dad and a lady named Chris, who need God’s guidance for their relationship and for her and our family. Keep praying!

Please pray also for my sister Corry again– I won’t go into detail but she lost a good friend and her job in two consecutive days, so please keep her in your prayers. She has a new job in a coffee house! Keep praying!

My mom has a lot of pain in her stomach and thumbs lately. Please pray for strength and healing. Keep praying!

I really feel that the devil is trying every means he can to keep me from going into ministry. Please pray for protection and wisdom for my family. Pray for my parents, siblings Alex, Beth, Corry, Sam, and Jesse, and their families. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

3. Please pray that I would have money to be able to take care of a tax amendment that came up this year. I don’t even know if I can pay it before I leave since it is such a short time. God provides! ? On the back-burner… πŸ™‚

4. Please pray that I would be able to find a tutor for learning Mandarine Chinese, that I would have lots of help as I learn what it means to be an English teacher, and that I receive grace as I face culture shock and homesickness, which are bound to affect me in some capacity. I started language classes on Aug 3!

5. Please pray that I would keep my eyes and attention solely on Jesus Christ and what he has called me to do. Never stop praying this one! πŸ™‚

Thank you!

Keep the Faith!

6-12-15:

1. I am looking for a job in Taipei teaching English- pray for a job that is about 15-20 hours a week that will pay enough for me to live on, and one where I can grow and learn in a graceful environment.

2. My family is going through some crazy emotional times right now and it’s really hard to know what to focus on sometimes. I know that God wants all of our love and to be first in our lives, but it’s hard to walk that out while trusting him to care for everything else.

Specifically pray for my sister Corry as she heals from depression/anxiety and past, and my mom, uncle, and great aunt who are the most affected by the loss of my grandmother (their mom/sister).

3. Β I’m sure there are a lot of things I am not even aware of yet that I will need to take care of before leaving and after. Please pray for these to come to light, for good communication, and for grace in all areas.

  1. Jesus is your Good Shepherd (Jn 10). He is with you all the way (Mt 28:20). He knows your comings and goings (Ps 121). He will be there before you (Is 52:12). He is setting several things up ahead of time for you. Most likely it will be different than what you are expecting, but He is working out His plan in your life (Jer 29:11). You are on a great journey with the Lover of your soul (Song of Songs)! Yes, keep looking to Jesus. He loves you so much! (p.s.: I’ve prayed those prayer requests you have above.)

    1. Thank you, Therese. I really appreciate your obedience to God to make it your thing to pray for missionaries. I pray for more opportunities for you to be a prayer warrior, and I thank God for you! I need people’s support like you are giving, and I value that above any other thing. Prayer is beautiful. God is good, the devil is a liar, and prayer still changes things!! πŸ™‚ ~Skye

  3. As we call out to the Lord, He is Faithful and will answer because it’s according to His will (1John)
Thanks to all who interceed for this lovely and beautiful child of God!!
